“Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens” – an Oscar nomination?

The American Film Academy has published the official list of nominees for Best Visual Effects in the 88th Oscar Edition, which apparently include the most anticipated movie this month – Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, but also the 2015’s best movie – Jurassic World.

The Marvel Studios are on the list of 20 movies competing for a trophee with The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man. Disney is also on the list with Tomorrowland. On the other side of less demanding movies we have the following nominees: Bridge Of Spies, In The Heart Of The Sea, The Martian, The Walk, Jupiter Ascending, Terminator: Genisys, Fast And Furious 7, Mad Max: Fury Road and Ex-Machina.


By the end of December, the 10 productions to be on the short list of nominees for Best Visual Effects will be officially announced. The nominees of 2016 Oscar Edition will also be announced on January 14, 2016 and the award ceremony will take place on 28 February 2016.
