About Game

Blue Dragon is a role-playing video game developed by Mistwalker and Artoon and published by Microsoft Game Studios for the Xbox 360. Designed and written by Hironobu Sakaguchi, with character designs by Akira Toriyama and music by Nobuo Uematsu, it was Mistwalker’s debut title and the first Xbox 360 game to span multiple discs, shipping on three. The story follows a boy named Shu and his friends, who gain the power to summon shadow creatures after confronting the tyrant Nene, and who travel the world to stop his plans of conquest. Gameplay follows a traditional turn-based format with enemies visible on the field, a class system in which each character’s shadow can change roles and learn new skills, and a charge mechanic that lets players strengthen attacks at the cost of delayed turns. The game received generally positive reviews, with praise for its visuals and music and criticism of its conventional design, and it later spawned an anime series, manga adaptations, and two Nintendo DS sequels. An unofficial PC port, re:Blue, was released in 2026.
