Gears of War 2 is a third-person shooter video game developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios for the Xbox 360. It is the second installment of the Gears of War series. The game’s plot follows the continuing story of Delta Squad as they fight to save humanity from the subterranean Locust Horde. The human COG forces launch a massive assault directly into the Locust homeland to stop them from sinking entire cities. Gameplay expands upon the original, refining the cover-based combat and introducing new features like the ability to use downed enemies as ‘meatshields’, new weapons, and large-scale, destructible environments. It also introduced the highly influential ‘Horde Mode’, a five-player cooperative mode where players defend a location against waves of increasingly difficult enemies.
